Tours and Adventures, Travel2012 Colorados Kegfest
The Surf Simply resort in Costa Rica closed for a short break last week but don’t fret, we’ll be open again on November 17th. Harry, Kerianne and Graham have headed off to France, to get everything ready for the coaching courses that we’re running there during the world title contest in September and October. So Ru, Jessie, Oli and Dani decided to make a three day pilgrimage to the board snapping barrels of Playa Colorados in Nicaragua, along with old Surf Simply friends: Brad, Jack and Mariju.
Unfortunately we had to drop Sam at Liberia airport on the way to Nicaragua. We were all pretty sad to say bye to him but we’re sure he’ll be back.
Unlike the friendly waves here at Playa Guiones in Nosara, the waves at Colorados move so fast that they open up into an inviting tube which can look beautifully seductive one moment and smash you to the ocean floor the next. In the sequence below Ru threaded his way through one but in the beautiful shot at the top of the post he ended up with sand in every orifice!
The guys got great waves for the entire three day stay and have decided to make the Surf Simply Colorado’s Kegfest and annual occurrence (along with Indo, France and Costa Rica …phewww, we’re running out of year!).
Surf Simply coaches Jessie and Oli relaxing on the beach, pleased to have made it back in with their arms and legs still attached.
Surf Simply’s head coach Oli bottom turns on a bomb.
Above: Everyone was getting geed up in between sessions watching the final day of the Billabong Pro at Teauhupoo. “We thought that we were charging but that put things firmly back in perspective.” Below: As usual in heavy surf, Jessie was the only girl in the line up and was pushing herself on every wave.
Look out for all the photos on our Facebook page tomorrow…
